“Folklore and the Ages” at Gomhouria Theatre

The Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher, presents “Folklore and the Ages” by Forsan El Sharq Heritage Company at Gomhouria Theater on 21 & 22 December 2023 at 8 p.m.
The performance, choreographed and directed by Dr. Essam Ezzat with lighting design by Reda Ibrahim and set design by Ahmed Zayed, portrays the artistic heritage of various historical eras in Egypt; each era carrying a distinct character. Beginning with the Pharaonic era, then moving to the Coptic era, followed by the Islamic era and finally depicting the modern era, “Folklore and the Ages”performance highlights the intellectual richness and uniqueness of the Egyptian identity.
Forsan El Sharq Heritage Company was founded by the Ministry of Culture in 2009. Walid Aouni, the artistic director of the Company at that time, was inspired by the Egyptian heritage and accordingly portrayed this rich legacy in an artistic and dramatic dance context. Themes and characters of its performances are mainly inspired by the Egyptian heritage and history.
