
Cairo Opera House launches the 33rd edition of the Arab Music Festival and Conference

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, Cairo Opera House held a press conference to announce the details of the 33rd session of the Arab Music Festival and Conference, which chose Umm Kulthum as its personality on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her death. The press conference was attended by Dr. Alaa Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Opera House and Chairman of the Festival, Maestro Dr. Mohamed El-Mougy, Deputy Director of the Festival, Dr. Sherine Abdel Latif, Head of the Scientific Committee, Amani El-Saeed, Head of the Central Administration for Arab Music, Poet Gamal Bakhit, Media Personality Jasmine Taha, Dr. Emad Ashour, Maestro Ahmed Amer, Maestro Dr. Mustafa Helmy, Maestro Ahmed Atef. During the conference, the activities were reviewed, which will continue for 10 consecutive days from 16 to 25 October 2025, and include 41 singing and musical concerts with the participation of 83 artists.
Noteworthy, an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy by artist Yousry El Mamlouk will be held from 16 to 25 October at Salah Taher Gallery, in addition to an exhibition of young calligraphers from 19 to 22 October at Ziad Bakir Gallery in the Music Library.
During the opening ceremony, which is hosted by the Fountain Theater, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Alaa Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Opera House, honers 11 figures who contributed to enriching the artistic life in Egypt and the Arab world.
The opening ceremony will be directed by Mahdi El Sayed, with set and graphics designed by Abdel Moneim El Masry. It will also include a film about the life of the "Star of the East" Umm Kulthum, the festival's personality, directed by Samer Madi, and a concert by the star Amal Maher, accompanied by a musical ensemble conducted by Maestro Tamer Faydi.
