The Cairo Opera House Theatres
Roman Amphitheatre, Alexandria
The Roman amphitheatre was discovered in
the area of Kom-El-Dikka. It is small
but well preserved and has twelve
semi-circular marble terraces. A number
of columns and sections of mosaic
flooring can still be seen.
In the past, it was probably used for
the most diverse spectacles. Nowadays,
it accommodates the summer activities.
These are performances of Arab music
which take place in July and August.
Kaitbay Castle and Falls Garden are two
more quite striking sites where
occasionally performances are staged.
