Music Library
The Music Library, situated on the Cairo
Opera House grounds, provides
information about opera, symphony,
ballet, Arab music, Cultural Opera
Salons and Panel Discussions. It holds
rare books and manuscripts about art and
music, and has a large collection of
digital recordings of singers and
composers from Egypt and the whole Arab
world. Records, CDs, videotapes,
cassette tapes, and recordings of Opera
House performances are available.
They may be recorded for a fee. Apart
from books, magazines, slides, and
brochures there are also maquettes of
performances at the Cairo Opera House.
An audiovisual room is accessible to the
public, subscriptions are not required.
The library also offers training courses
for students at library departments of
Egyptian universities.
The Music Library also houses an art
gallery. The space in the circular,
two-storey construction lends itself
admirably to the display of artistic
works. This new gallery plays a double
role in providing the library visitor
with the opportunity to see and
appreciate works of different artists
and at the same time it encourages the
exhibition visitor to get interested in
the world of books as well.
The library opens daily from 9 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. (closed Fridays and
Saturdays).
