Rageh Daoud’s Masterpieces at Cairo Opera House

Under the baton of by Maestro Ahmed Farag, the Cairo Opera Orchestra features masterpieces by the renowned Egyptian composer Rageh Daoud at the Main Hall on Sunday, 21 January 2024 at 8 p.m. The concert’s program includes a number of Daoud’s music compositions and soundtracks such as “Musical Moment”, “The Third Man”, “Sunrise”, “Circus Clown”, “Dialogue”, “Ladies of Garden City”, “Birds of the Nile”, “The Warriors”, “Passacaglia” and others.
Rageh Daoud, a prominent Egyptian composer, is known for his significant contributions to film scoring in Egyptian cinema. He studied composition at the Cairo Conservatoire and obtained his diploma in musical composition with honors in 1977. In 1981, he received a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at the Vienna Music Academy. Currently, he is a professor at the Composition and Conducting Department of the Cairo Conservatoire.
Daoud founded and conducted the Hanager Strings Orchestra from 1994 to 1999. He participated in the Mediterranean Music Festival in Palermo, Italy, in 1997 and 1998 and has served as a jury member in various international music competitions. Rageh Daoud received several prizes in cinema festivals (the National Festival for Feature Films in Cairo and the Alexandria Film Festival), and was awarded the State Incentive Award in Arts (1996) and the State Award for Excellence (2003).
Playing an active role in the musical scene in Egypt and abroad, Daoud’s works were performed in Cairo, Alexandria, Vienna, Italy, Germany, Paris, Czech, London, Spain, Canada, Hungary and Poland.
