“Art is Life” at the Alexandria Opera Cultural Salon

On the occasion of the International Day of Islamic Art, the Cairo Opera House, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Dagher, holds a Cultural Salon at the Alexandria Opera House under the title “Art is Life”. Organized by the General Administration of Cultural and Intellectual Activities of the Cairo Opera House, the Salon hosts prominent artists including Dr. Moustafa Abdel-Mawgud, Hoda El-Sabaay, Ahmed El-Baz, and is moderated by Dr. Safiya Al-Qabani, the head of the artists’ syndicate. This event takes place at Alexandria Opera House “Sayed Darwish Theater” on Monday, 20 November 2023.

The evening discusses a number of Islamic art models, the impact of art on all aspects of life and the role art plays in shaping emotions, ideas and experiences.

The International Day of Islamic Art, celebrated on November 18, was established by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2019. It aims to raise awareness of past and contemporary artistic expressions of Islam, and the contribution of culture through Islamic Art to civilization.
