Cairo Opera
Children’s Choir
The Cairo Opera House Children's Choir
consists of nearly 250 boys and girls,
and was established in July 1989 under
the supervision of Dr. Ratiba El-Hefny
and the direction of Maestro Selim
Sahab.
The choir has a repertoire of
traditional and modern songs, but its
aim is not purely artistic. Time and
effort is also directed at educational,
social and national aspects. Cultivating
an artistically conscious generation
capable of social involvement and
developing a strong national identity is
by far one of the noblest aims of the
Cairo Opera House.
With great proficiency, the Cairo Opera
House Children's Choir participated in
opera productions of Carmen, La Bohème,
and the operetta Sheherazade, as well as
in a few others. The choir also took
part in Arab music concerts.
