Cairo Opera Choir
Aldo Magnato
Born in Italy, he studied piano, organ,
composition, choral and orchestral
conducting, then worked at theatres in
Palermo, Trapani, Mantova, Bologna,
Cagliari, Venezia, and other Italian
theatres.
His profession led him to Spain,
Holland, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Peru,
etc. Among other things, he worked as a
repetiteur, prompter, stage music
director and choir master. Since 1968
Aldo Magnato has been choir master of
the Cairo Opera Company and pianist and repetiteur for the opera’s soloists.
For the Aida productions of Luxor and
the pyramids he acted as principal
conductor and choir master of all the
participating choirs. At the 16th
Citadel Festival of Music Singing he was
honoured by the Higher Council of
Culture and Farouk Hosni, the Egyptian
Minister of Culture.
